Hello Love Advocates!

This topic has been in my “draft” section for many moons, but now is the time to share. I’m normally a very private person, so although I like to share experiences and knowledge, I do not like to divulge personal details, so to speak (I’m a Scorpio ๐Ÿ˜‰). And before you start putting me in a box, I think Scorpios are like Pit Bulls, we’re very misunderstood.

How do you go from eating a Tomahawk steak one day to being Vegan? Well, let me tell you, it ain’t easy!

I must say, I’ve never been a big meat lover, but I would enjoy the occasional Porterhouse for two. I’m in private banking, and my job requires dining with my clients.ย  Being based in NYC, over the years I have frequented Smith and Wollensky, Sparks & Wolfgang’s to name a few. I’ve had the pleasure of dining in the most exquisite restaurants because we specialized in restaurateurs.ย db0bceef-71e1-4678-b1a4-aaec45f3ce20-16755-00000f96b940472a

This is Daniel Boulud’s Duo of beef. If you ever visit NYC, and you’re sort of on a budget, visit Cafe Boulud on the Upper East Side for lunch, this is actually a very affordable way to enjoy a Top Chef’s cuisine.ย  I think their pre fixe is still around $45. I fancy myself an amateur chef and this meal is to die for.

But I digress, how did I become an involuntary or dare I go even further and say, a reluctant vegan? To this day, I still cannot tell you. As I became more “spiritually” aware, I discovered Angels and Reiki and crystals etc. It was like I was on the fast track to enlightenment. I read every book from the Dalai Lama to Deepak Chopra in record time. My beloved cat was dying from liver failure and a friend told me about Reiki healing. I had never even heard of it. I reached out to someone to get Animal Reiki trained and the pre-requisite was to take Level 1 first.

img_2400So for Miss Feral Kitty (may she rest in peace) I began Reiki training. But let it be known that she was given a death sentence by her Vet in July, 2012 and lived quite happily until December, 2017 crossing the Rainbow bridge at 19 years of age.11219075_10206905819950872_7312128105104537685_nFeral was a rescue (the runt), I found her under my house at 5 weeks old. I was the only mother she ever knew.

Do I owe my spiritual awakening to Miss Feral Kitty? I think so! We’ll talk more about this another time as well.

Fast forward to me getting Reiki trained. My first attunement lead to crazy shifts in my body. Overnight, I could no longer tolerate meat or dairy.

I’ve already told you I was an amateur chef, so I tried to find a way to navigate through this. It was difficult to say the least. How do I get protein in to my diet? How do I attend social events?

At first, I nibbled on nuts before I went to a family or social event. I picked through the meals served me. And let me tell you, it wasn’t pleasant. Not the eating, the backlash.

But as is with everything Love Advocates, there are trials and tribulations. So I persevered. Now, I have a bunch of recipes that satisfy the reluctant Vegan.ย If you would like to make a few healthy changes in your life, please do. Just take baby steps. I’ll be sharing recipes with you starting today.

Please check out my Recipe section.

With much love and many blessings,

LP๐Ÿ’œ
