Greetings fellow Love Advocates!

I’m not one to quote scripture, but I felt a gentle nudging from Jesus to spread the word this week.  I just happen to have a Loving Words from Jesus deck of cards, so I pulled this one for you.

“Give, and it shall be given unto you,” is from the Gospel of Luke.  Luke was quite a fan of Jesus! The most relatable translation I can find is:
New Living Translation
Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full–pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.”

I realized that this is synonymous with what I write to my friends on their birthdays: “May you have all the love your heart can hold!” I don’t recall exactly when I began saying this, but it just felt like a nice thing to “wish” for someone.  I mean, who doesn’t need more love in their life? I know I won’t turn love away!

But while we’re on scripture, let’s back it up a bit.

I’ll give you a wee bit o’ background on my spiritual journey.  I was a practicing Catholic for many moons.  I just loved being a “part” of the community. Connecting with old and young, helping those in need.  I loved being in church, bathed by sunlight through beautiful stained glass windows which seemed like God shining down on me. Lighting candles for loved ones, writing “intentions” in the Prayer book, reflecting on my actions and reactions of the week and being forgiven for my transgressions every Sunday.

Which leads me back to the gospel of Luke. This prefaces the card I pulled, and the verse I wished to share with you:

Do Not Judge
37 Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. 38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.”

The message this week Love Advocates is Forgive more, Give more, Receive more and most importantly, Love more!

Your actions and reactions have a ripple effect. Let’s try to keep them love based.

With much love and many blessings,

LP 💜
